Turn a random corner after an afternoon of shopping and perusing in New Hope and you'll find a hidden gem at Marine's River House Restaurant. Bartender on Friday night makes some strong drinks to set the ambiance. Outdoor area sits alongside the Delaware River and live musicians sing sweet melodies while you enjoy delicious food from their seasonal menus. Their tenderloin veal is delicious and they make a mean chocolate martini. If you like craft beer, this isn't your kind of place but if your willing to try something new, you'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Take a walk down that street you would never turn down and you will run right into Martine's. There is plenty of outdoor seating but it fills up fast when the weather is nice. If you can get a seat outside here on a nice day, you will definitely enjoy a pleasant meal with a gorgeous view. The decor and menu are just like the town they are in - eclectic and colorful. To me, this is more of a lunch or casual dinner place. The atmosphere doesn't lend itself to a romantic dinner in your best dress. Food was good - not great. I had the pasta special which came with a good portion of jumbo shrimp in a pesto cream sauce. My only complaint was that it was just drowning in sauce which overpowered the flavors of the dish - maybe just lightly dressing it in the sauce would have been better. My fiancé had the risotto which also came with shrimp in a coconut curry sauce. Really great flavors in this dish but it is on the heavier side. Certainly worth a trip here for a drink on the patio or to enjoy some live music when they have a band playing.

Fabulous view sitting outside overlooking the Delaware. My husband had a watermelon Fig Gazpacho soup which was out of this world. He also had the special petite filet with watermelon arugula and feta cheese salad which was cooked perfect. I had a Portabella burger which was also just fine. Great place to visit before going to the Playhouse. The service was wonderful and they were very aware of being quick so that we could make Our play. Great little spot in New Hope don't miss it.

Just walked in.. The hostess not friendly at all-didn't even get up from her seat to ask us the size of our party.

The hostess was not friendly at all. No smile. The wait for lunch was a bit long considering we were the only ones seated on the deck. The scallops with risotto rice was very good, as well as the turkey sandwich. I loved the setting on the river. Very tranquil and fun watching the ducks.

Spent quite a bit of time there on a late Wednesday afternoon, and enjoyed the back patio on the Delaware River. The view was spectacular with the river, many ducks and the bridge to Lambertville NJ in the distance. We enjoyed the draft beer and a couple spicy Margaritas. The food was very good (a little pricey). My husband had the Basil Ravioli (special of the day) and I had the Smoked Seafood Appetizer. Good service, good food and an extremely nice setting. A good place to take a seat and enjoy Bucks County.

Great service an ambiance. I had a fresh house salad, dressed perfectly and the salmon special, which was grilled with little neck clams and ravioli in a cream sauce. Light, but filling. Definitely hope to go back!

We came here for a friends bachelorette dinner. From the start we knew the dinner wouldn't be the best...first the hostess was slightly rude to us when we asked about moving our seats outside. Once we realized that we couldn't get seated outside we were moved into a seat in the corner which was extremely dark and we could barely see our food. As for the food: A few of us got salads with fish on it and the three shrimp ended up costing double the price of the salad, the rice on one meal was soggy and the soup was watery. Our waiter was great, but that didn't change the fact that we expected more for the price.

Martine's has an amazing river view...that alone is worth a stop. The food was tasty, and I didn't have a problem getting some veggie stuff. Drinks were good, and of course Yuengling Lager on tap. Good friends, good food, and a great time!

Excellent food, beautiful view, reasonable prices. Would give 5 stars if the service wasn't so slow. We'll definitely be back. The grilled asparagus salad and warm pumpkin tart were terrific!

This is my favorite place to dine on the river in New Hope or Lambertville. On a summer night, Martine's deck can't be beat as the ideal location for a relaxing meal. Try the pate -- you won't be disappointed!

We have visited twice, partly because of the view of the river from the dining room and because of the convenient parking lot. The atmosphere of the place seemed to be very ordinary - I don't agree with the "cozy" comment of another reviewer. I really don't recall what we ordered on either trip but the food was OK; nothing to complain about but also not memorable.

We went here on the recommendation of someone, and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best place in New Hope. The restaurant is quaint with a nice view of the river, and during the summer months, I would imagine that it would be pretty busy. The host seemed to be a trying a little hard and to me, was over dressed for a restaurant of this nature. Since it was a Sunday night in the middle of winter, there really wasn't anyone in there. They had just revamped the menu and it wasn't that spectacular to me. I ordered a chicken pasta dish and it was pretty mediocre. Again, this would be a good place during the summer to sit and have drinks. But that's probably the only reason I would go.

I had been to Martine's a few in the past eight years and enjoyed it (decent food and beautiful views) but went with friends for dinner recently and we absolutely had the most horrible dining experience ever. We ordered three dunner entrees, two salads and side of pasta. The pasta dish was soaked in olive oil. The waiter was not apologetic and seemed totally indifferent. All our food was inedible and I definitely WOULD NOT recommend. We dine out quite often and Martine's will be exed off our list of favorites.

If I could give 3.5 I would. It was close to a 4 but not there. Food was good, not great. Had the steak sandwich and my girlfriend had the crab cake. The crab cake was much better. Nothing to really write home about regarding the food. The best part about the place was the atmosphere. Overlooking the Delaware and practically on the water. A 5 star for atmosphere. The service was very attentive and friendly too

Great spot for a drink or dinner on a warm summer's night (not that we experienced that, but you can tell). Great setting right on the river with a big deck on which to dine; friendly service, and a creative menu that is fairly well-executed. Sophisticated wine list rounds out the experience. Not a bad choice for dinner at all when in New Hope/Lambertville.

So my friends and I were came in to New Hope last week for a wedding. The first night we were there, we decided to ask the B&B-keeper for a recommendation for sit-down food (that was still open - it was near 9 on a Thursday) and she recommended Martine's. We walked the short walk there and were greeted promptly, seated immediately, and doted on by our servers throughout the night, from cocktails to oh-my-god-I'm-too-full-for-any-more dessert. I ordered the stuffed pork chop and asked for it "as rare as you're willing to make it" and was rewarded with a perfectly cooked stuffed chop that was as well presented as it was tasty. My wife ordered a fish entree (I think it was ahi, but I'm not sure) that was wrapped in a pastry and presented in such a way to remind me (at least) of that marrow dish that you always see on TV - I tasted it, it was fantastic. We had a great discussion with our engaging servers and learned that there was a new chef in the kitchen, and so the menu itself was only about a week old and that it represented the very best that the chef had to offer - they were, essentially, sussing out what people enjoyed and what they didn't to see what should make the permanent list. (Maybe this explains some of the issues that the previous reviewer had with the food preparation.) The food prices were equivalent to the prices we'd pay back home (San Francisco) and the wine was slightly under priced compared to what I usually expect. The atmosphere was fine, the restaurant was clean, and the ventilation system did a good job keeping the smoke in the smoking section and away from us. All in all, a real surprise for us, and a fantastic meal served and prepared well. Not cheap, but we felt we got our money's worth, and a little more.

Went there recently for a celebration with friends. We sat outside - great view of the river and the lambertville bridge. Waiters were great - food was good. I would say alittle overpriced and the food was on the small servings side. No extra's like a salad or soup with dinner. just dinner rolls. We brought our own cake- which they put in the fridge for us. Would be better if it was byob But overall a nice place to go with friends or for a romantic dinner. Large selection of salads.

Martine's is a very pleasant restaurant with an outdoor seating area facing the Delaware River. Food was very good and service excellent. Try the orechetta Bolognese with Italian sausage, or one of their salads. Adults will enjoy this restaurant. The veranda overlooking the river looked pleasant but the weather was too hot to sit outside.

Been here twice so far, for dinner and lunch and will definitely be coming back for more. This place has a very colorful menu and an amazing dinning experience outside on the deck. If you are a sucker for outside dinning with an amazing view of the river, you have to give this place a try. For dinner, we had to eat inside as it was raining at the time, my only complaint was that this place gets pretty crowded on saturday night and with that gets very noisy. If you are in a mood for a quiet and romantic place and they only have inside dinning at the time, i would definitely pass on to somewhere else. I had to take a few Tylenols after having dinner here, yeah, it was as if i had front stage tickets to senior citizens hearing impaired Bingo night.... BINGO !!!! For dinner i had chicken liver pate', strawberry salad and filet mignon. I would definitely pass and not recommend the liver pate', not sure if maybe it wasn't fresh, but it had a very very bitter taste, it went down like a teaspoonful of bad tasting cough medicine. Thank god i had an alcoholic drink nearby to "chase it with"..... The strawberry salad was very refreshing, rich with taste and the rosemary cider dressing went perfect with this salad. The filet mignon was also cooked to perfection (medium rare), had great flavor, was very tender and went perfectly well with their red wine demi glace, whipped potatoes and asparagus. Our second outing to Martines was for lunch, and i was even more impressed with their food and outside dinning. Weather was perfect and we had a chance to dine on the deck, and I'm sure as you know, every woman enjoys a nice big deck with a gorgeous view... We split the strawberry salad, i had their London Broil sandwich (phenomenal) and wifey had the Pastrami and Rye. Both of these sandwiches were very flavorful, tender and juicy, but not greasy. Making my mouth water as i type this. Also they had very good fries. Overall it was a very tasty lunch with an amazing view and weather, one that i keep reminiscing to. I would probably recommend their lunch menu over their dinner menu, but maybe with future dinner outings at Martines, i will change my mind, or maybe i'll just premeditate myself with Tyelnol....

Went here on Father's day. The place got crowded by 6PM but still was not loud. Great deck seating with tables for couples closest to the water. I got their ribeye steak salad and wifey went for halibut while substituting the sides from salmon. There was no additional charge for the switch. We also got their fried oysters and were not disappointed at all. Servers were adults and maybe a tad slow, but very professional.

Disappointing. Food was mediocre. Burger was not cooked to specification. Salad was eh. Was hoping for more and service was impersonal and neglectful.

We love sitting out on the deck in nice weather, but we've eaten inside many times in the winter. The food is usually very good although we have had a time or 2 over the years where it wasn't great. We love their pate, it's served properly with a delicious fruit chutney, chopped red onion, cornichons and crisp French bread. We love the atmosphere, we love sitting by the railing looking out at the river, we love eating at the bar or even in the dining room with a Riverview, it's just a great place to end up the day New Hope.

  • Bill D.

Not that great - I'm from out of town and was excited about the cool setting right on the river. However, the food was mediocre and the staff was a bit unkempt. Bartender was kind of a weirdo and was drinking behind the bar.

  • Amber S.

Don't plan on going here if you have small children. Apparently they have had issues before with high chairs and they wouldn't allow our stroller on the deck although there was plenty of room. Really disappointing! They missed out on our business and we won't be returning. Also, their gin cocktail was watered down.

    (1)
  • Ed K.

They have unique dishes, beautiful restaurant and bar, and outdoor seating on the deck along the river. This is a locals place and that's what you think going during the winter. A lot of late night friends frequent this place. Sort of like the local Cheers.

Food was good. The problem was the waiter. He knew we had a play to get to. Food came in plenty of time but waiter disappeared after that. No coffe or desert offered. Had to ask a busboy to get our check

Martine really knows how to do it right! The atmosphere at the Riverhouse both inside and out is so wonderful. Whether I'm at the bar, at an inside table, on the porch overlooking the Delaware River or in front...it's perfect! I just had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Bacon plus the pasta special with broccoli and blue cheese. The Fried Green Tomatoes were unbelievable! The homemade pasta light and silky. The sauce way beyond my expectations! The staff is attentive and knowledgable. If I'm sitting outside, I'm not forgotten! This is a keeper in New Hope!

Dinner was a dud!A member of our group ordered a medium-well filet which had to be sent back because it came out medium rare. It comes out again after 20 min still under cooked. So now a member of our party has no dinner and the entire tone of of the meal was ruined because by the time the steak came back under cooked the second time the rest of us were already done eating. I asked to talk to the manager and was told she left for the night They still charged us over 400 bucks for our meal. Thumbs down! Horrible experience.

We shared a bowl of mussels and had a few beers. The mussels were excellent! They were in a thai style coconut sauce. The sauce was so good we ordered another basket of bread to soak up all of the juice. The scenery was so beautiful. We will explore more later but it was surprising that more places didn't have water front decks. The view of the bridge, Lambertville, and the flowing water was very soothing. The waterfront deck lored us in but the food was so excellent we will return. While the prices were a bit steep the food we had was excellent it is worth it. Service was also very good.

I didn't get a chance to sample enough of the menu to really get an idea on how great all the food could be. It took an unrealistic amount of time for the waitress to bring our water, drinks and take our food order. Sitting by the river wasn't so bad but given hunger was a factor.....decided to just get some apps and have dinner elsewhere. The waitress was apologetic but when several other tables that were seated after us had already received their food it gets to be un-cool. Went with the Thai mussels which were meaty and in a delicious broth. Excellent. Next item was a spinach salad with pecans and stuff. Nothing exciting there. Wines were okay. Probably would just go elsewhere next time.

Beautiful view...wonderful fried green tomato appetizer. . My friends had the strawberry and apple salads while I had the ham sandwich--all good. We had lunch on the back deck and the umbrellas protected us from a brief drizzle..

First reviewer! I went tonight with some co-workers after this place was recommended to us. The place itself looked cozy (right on the River next to the playhouse). Ordered the strip steak (medium rare), which the menu said came with chimichurri sauce, baby squash, and roasted purple Peruvian potatoes. Unfortunately, the steak was probably closer to medium/medium-well than it was medium-rare. The baby squash looked surprisingly like snowpeas (maybe it's a PA variety?) The potatoes were tasty though. The spring rolls (appetizer) were tasty, but nothing too exciting. For the price, I probably won't be back.

I could not wait to try this place after all of the great reviews that I heard from local friends and family, so I decided to take my mother for dinner the other night. The atmosphere was fabulous, but unfortunately, the FOOD was MEDIOCRE and the SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. Thankfully we sat outside--a lovely patio with a waterfront view--because it took our server near 25 minutes to come over and greet us. I was shvitzing for a glass of water by the time she finally ended her conversation with one table and came over to ours. Not a busy night (5 tables at most) & no apologies for the delayed service FYI. We ordered a bottle of white wine--delicious and reasonably priced-- and each got an order of the Thai Mussels steamed in a ginger, coconut, red curry, and rice wine broth ($12). The mussels were so sweet, it could have been listed on the dessert menu. There was no spice or red curry flavor evident in the broth and it was inedible when combined with the seafood, so we actually sent both orders back. The server admitted that the recipe was recently changed, but then did not offer us to choose another dish from the menu!!! Granted, I would have been hesitant to order something else, it is just customer service 101 to offer another option and attempt to rectify the situation and make a better impression. Didn't happen though, so we killed the bottle of vino and washed the sweet sweet taste of mussels out of our mouths and left with well....a rather sour taste of poor service. Won't be back....primarily because of service.

Good: Deck overlooking the river Super friendly staff Local ingredients Fried green tomatoes Roasted asparagus Sauteed kale There wasn't anything bad about the food, but neither of us were blown away by our entrees. Everything sounded really good on the menu, but when we got it, it was just okay. The corn and roasted pepper salad was bland. They have all of the right ingredients - great location, friendly staff, local products - but something about the delivery is off...I can't pinpoint it, though. Overall, I think this place is worth the visit. Beware - on Friday nights (they have fireworks at 9:30 every Friday in the summer), parking is insane.

I've been to Martine's before and it has been great, but was very disappointed with my lunch last month. Most of us got salads and they were all priced over ten dollars and we were all hungry when we left. Not a lot to them and surely not worth the money. Beautiful place and nice people, but expensive for what you get.

Martin,s is a charming Newhope PA-ish dining experience. Mainly convenient to the Bucks County Playhouse. My three guess & myself are not hard to please. Service was fine. My salmon was tasty for the most part but not completely cooked. The chicken entrée was fine as well. The scallops were outstanding but now for the hanger steak, how do you call a pot roast steak? Major disappointment and charged an arm and a leg for it. Not nice. We all agreed to share the apple turnover, big mistake. Before I continue I really think the head chef called out sick. At first glance I know it was something I would pass on. No crust? No flaky outside? I think it was uncooked dough. By the way the first unisex bathroom, it should be padlocked.

Yes, gang, a four star experience in New Hope...go figure. But my experience is very limited to sitting at the bar, chatting with Jessica the excellent barkeep, and thus the service was impeccable. 3 stars--There was only a handful of taps for brew, I had the Yards Brawler...pretty good stuff...close to something I would have more preferred, but it was fine for one day. Also they had an adequate bottled beer selection and wines looked decent too. 5 stars--To start, the Thai mussels rivaled any mussels you would find in the tri-state area. The coconut curry broth was a velvety smooth base which clung to each mussel, was not watery, nor overly spiced but just perfect. The mussels were so tender, perfect texture, no grit, and definitely not the "pungent" tasting mussels you get at other places. 3 stars--For a light entree I had the duck salad. There were 5 medium to small, fairly lean slices of duck over arugula (not much), apples (about a 1/4 apple), a small handful of walnuts, and a tracing of goat cheese in a lightly dressed rosemary vinaigrette. Flavors were complimentary, the size and price were not. But it was a good salad. 5 stars--Service, see above Yah, I'm a fan, especially in New Hope where tourist traps with mediocre food await your wallet.

The food is surprisingly expensive especially for lunch. Salads are all ten dollars or more and no bread is served either on the table or with the salads!!! Adding chicken to the caesar salad is six bucks, when normally it is much less elsewhere. The ice in the water was half-melted, and when we asked for ice, we got half-melted ice. We sat indoors to avoid the humidity and insect life, but we were rudely surprised to find tons of files inside the restaurant. The waiter simply said "flies, huh?" and resumed minding his own business. The piece of salmon in the lunch entree was small. Service was decent though, minus the lack of concern for the flies. We have no complaints about the rest of the food, which was a little better than average, but we are definitely not coming back. A lot of places in NYC or Philly do have better value.

  • Essayon M.

Stop for a quick lunch. Had the chicken and vegetable soup. Tasted from a can. Others in the party seemed to think the food was satisfactory. The service was distant meaning since we all has a soup and just one entree was ordered I speculate that our waters were not filled and the next time we saw the waiter was to pay. One star for the view. Not recommended since there are many places to choose from nearby that seem to standout.

This is a lovely little place right on the Delaware River. The food is good, but not great. We were hungry and it was getting late, so we decided to enjoy the view and assumed the food wouldn't be too bad, we were right on both counts.

  • Andrew N.

First, I wanted to start off by saying the deck location next to the river is awesome. The food is very good too. I had their ham sandwich with pineapples and onions. My wife enjoyed a burger, and the white sangria. Why a two star rating? The service, or lack thereof. Our waiter never introduced himself, never apologized for the wait, and we had to track him down so we could pay and leave! They never asked us how our food was, or if we wanted more water or sangria. I had to walk back to the bar to get our own refill! If you want a good sandwich, eat here, but you may be less frustrated if you bring a sandwich with you to enjoy at another waterfront location!

  • Courtney T.

One of the most well put-together menus I've seen in a while. Appropriately priced. Most importantly, the food is excellent. 3 of us shared vichyssoise, fried green tomatoes (topped with applewood smoked bacon, jumbo shrimp, and some kind of remoulade), beet salad, and 2 fish entrees (1 of which was a special). FYI - At 8pm on Tuesday, the outside seating area was completely full, so I'd imagine this isn't the place you want to come on a weekend (they don't take reservations). Beautiful bar.

  • Sheila S.

Great food but disappointing touches. Been here many times before enjoying the wonderful food and great people met at the bar. But when I took business clients to dinner on Friday night, we had more great food, super service by a charming waitress, BUT a big turn-off going into the bathroom. In both unisex restrooms, the garbage pails were overflowing, an unfortunate negative impact on an otherwise fabulous evening. Real sloppy. Fine restauranteurs don't miss this important touch. It makes one wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Time for a chat with the night staff?

  • Glen S.

2 Stars for a great view! Guess that is what you are paying for here as it is certainly not the food. $14 "flounder" sandwich was a small grilled rye bread sandwich with a thin as cardboard (& texture of) filet of fish. Wife's pear salad was $12 I believe, but the 3 additional little shrimp were $8 more.

Really a lovely place. We were there in the winter and it was VERY cold (not inside), but I can see how pretty it would be in Summer/Spring/Fall. The fried green tomatoes, very breaded, but very yummy. And all our food was good, cooked perfectly and nicely presented. I also had a specialty drink....ooh la la. yum.

The view and atmosphere is nice. The food was underwhelming and over priced. Go for a drink on the deck and skip dinner.

The good: Food was excellent Location View Clean Clean restrooms Friendly staff The bad: Slow service Overpriced Lack of beer selection One or two dishes were just a bit "off" So... three of us go here based on Yelp reviews and all of us were happy with our meals and experience. Three stars on Yelp is considered A-OK. which this place is. We share our meals family style and enjoyed the food. But the service was very slow. It took forever to get our drinks and refills. Took forever to get bread. Same goes with the meals and dessert. All of the dishes and drinks are expensive, and in my opinion way overpriced. With that being said... the waitress was very friendly and trying to do her best with the crowd. The appetizers were very yummy. The main courses were very good. We shared the Scallops, Veal and Lamb and the taste was very, very good. The Scallops presentation was very nice and appetizing. Can't say the same with the veal or lamb, just didn't look that great. Not very appetizing at all, actually. Dessert was very yummy and presented well. All in all, I would go back. I love the view, the atmosphere, location, the friendly people and the cleanliness of the place.

I ate here last night after getting turned away from another restaurant that was booked up. What good luck! We were seated by the window with a beautiful view of the river. The service could not have been more attentive, and the food was delicious.I had the hummus appetizer and the flounder entree. Both were so large I ended up taken 1/2 home. We were very happy, my new favorite restaurant, I will be going back!! One note, it is very pricey. $108.00 before tip for two dinners, two glasses of wine, no dessert, no coffee or tea for us.

Was at Martine's River House Shad Fest Sunday. Hands down the worst plate of slop ever put in front of me anywhere. A Pork dish of leeks and Brussels Sprouts, that sounded great on the menu, but when served to me looked like dry chunky vomit served on a pile of dried out brown rice. Absolutely inedible. Returned. My dining companion had a dish of perfectly cooked Scallops with what seemed to be an orange glaze, way to sweet, and nicely cooked but over white peppered vegetables. Beside my awful meal, It seemed like the staff had that Sunday evening I don't want to be working here feeling; totally checked out. In a nutshell, not a good dining experience at all

Martine's is just OK. It get's crammed with summer tourists and the food is nothing special (at least for me). It is a respite from walking around town, though and in winter they have hearty soups. Pros: Right on the river, great view Cons: Tourist Filled (but what isn't in summer in NHPA?), Blah unmemorable food.

One of my all time favorite spots in new hope right along the river. I love outdoor dinning and this place has that. Their menu changes seasonally but there a few items that stay, such as their Thai mussels, which I love and hummus. Nice drink menu and wine list. Moderate priced. Not a place for families. if in new hope definely a nice lunch choice for a girls day out

Probably the most romantic restaurant/cafe in romantic little New Hope. Picturesque. Framed by trees; low-hanging boughs with broad, flat, leathery, leaves wafting lazily over one's table and faces lit by a railing dotted with hurricane lanterns. Ideally you're sitting outside on the oak-beamed patio deck to enjoy all this. As I recall the view projects out wide, onto the flat, glassy sheen of the river's-face gliding by; the banks bristling with wet, dark trees reaching over. The evening we dined there: one half the sky held sheets of heat-lightning; the other a full moon with a moon-bow. Merovingian; the atmosphere and setting is rustic-French-cottage in theme and style. Gracious and congenial hostess/owner (hair done up high/strands falling loose; laced-up suede vest and billowy sleeves; pert nose; and long, white, flowing skirt; shod in dancer's slippers) nipping around to each table to make sure everyone was happy. She stayed and talked to us for a while; inquiring where we were from; etc. We sampled chilled white wine (gorgeous flavor) and steins of amber beer; and plates of crustini and pears/brie drizzled with caramel as we were ending our evening and heading back to Philly. Unfortunately all this later resulted in someone getting pregnant. Yikes. Not sure whether I should take 1 star off my review for that...but the food and experience was fabulous and memorable.

Quick: name two regions known for their fantastic wines. Did you say, "Sonoma Valley?" Did you say, "Umbria?" Surely you didn't say, "Pennsylvania." A state best renowned for Quakers, Sesame Place and cream cheese from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is not where anyone should go to experience a good vintage. Yet a sign at the bar of Martine's brags about offering the best local wines. OK, perhaps they're not so bad. You order one while sitting outside on the patio on a lovely autumn Sunday afternoon as you and your darling peruse the menu for a late lunch, appreciating the view. (Oh, dear god, is that your former boss seated two tables away? That's the horrid woman who laid you off a couple months ago! Of all the tourist infested restaurants in the Bucks County area, she had to walk into this one? It's just unfair. Well, at least the Delaware River is lovely.) In an attempt to quell your anxiety, you quickly quaff the wine that's been placed in front of you by the very helpful and friendly server. The wine tastes not unlike turpentine. Actually, if this were France, they would require the addition of turpentine to make it vaguely palatable. When you grimace, your date will suggest that you order something else. Not one to waste your alcohol, you finish the rest of the swill in one swift swallow and agree. The second glass doesn't fare any better. Perhaps the food will prove to be the reason why this eatery exists. It's been suggested to you by the proprietress of the B&B you're staying in, and you should trust the locals. Or not. The seasonal salad with apples, walnuts and blue cheese is passable though the lettuce leaves are still wet from a rinse, and the salmon BLT, while flavorful, arrives with the toast cold. Steak, ordered rare, is served medium well, which now has the texture of boots. It's not a gracious save. Stick with the wine - at least you will get drunk. Sit outside. If you're going to pay upwards of fifteen dollars for a mediocre sandwich, you might as well get some sun, a cool breeze and a scenic overlook of the Delaware River. The geese will appreciate the limp French fries you throw at them. Actually, they won't - they'll just swim around them and keep going. Who knew? Geese are pretty smart birds.

Had a terrific lunch on their beautiful outdoor patio on a perfect early fall warm day. I ordered the hamburger which was deliciously juicy, but was pricey once I added $1.50 each charge for cheese, onions and bacon on an already $11 burger. Inventive cocktail list and good service made for a delightful meal.

We had a nice lunch at Martine's yesterday which included a shared Greek salad, a Cuban sandwich and turkey panini. Each of these was very good and a real treat was the hand cut perfectly fried potatoes. This restaurant sits right on the river bank, with a beautiful view, overlooking the Delaware river in New Hope, PA.

We had tickets to a show last night (Fri) at the Bucks County Playhouse. As it turned out, Martine's was practically in the Playhouse's parking lot, right on the river. (Was hard to find.) So the 2 of us followed yelp reviews and decided on dinner there. Good choice. We sat at the bar. Being the 2 old ladies that we are, we don't like to take up table space to share a meal. Bartenders are more forgiving I think. At least the bartender(s) we had at Martine's were terrific - both of them. Joe and then Chris. Bartender gave me a taste of one of the seasonal beers and so I chose that. We ordered the 3 cheese plate. Wow - about 3x what they give you in - well, anywhere else, and with the honey and marinated walnuts it was delicious. 3 good choices - a blue, a fontina and brie. I wonder how silly we looked when we fought to lick the plate. We then shared the filet mignon - 8 oz. with great mashed pot., grilled asparagus and a big slice of portobello mushroom. a slice of keylime pie and cup of good coffee. 2 drinks each. Excellent - all of it. Oh, yeah...the hot rolls which had to be home made. We shared, and still had enough to take some juicy morsels home to Lucy the Cockapoo and Louie. Highly recommend Martine's. A little pricey, but hell, we were in New Hope. Cost about $110 with tip. (we do tip pretty well) Right on the river, good, friendly staff.

Had lunch here recently with a friend. We sat outside, directly overlooking the river. The view was wonderful. We were lucky to have nice weather. We both enjoyed the entrees and the soup. Would recommend this for an outdoor lunch, most definitely.

The best thing about this place is the view. They have outdoor seating right on the river, and the indoor seating faces a glass wall so you still get a good view of the river and the bridge to Lambertville. The food is good, but it's really nothing special.

Not that great - I'm from out of town and was excited about the cool setting right on the river. However, the food was mediocre and the staff was a bit unkempt. Bartender was kind of a weirdo and was drinking behind the bar.

Don't plan on going here if you have small children. Apparently they have had issues before with high chairs and they wouldn't allow our stroller on the deck although there was plenty of room. Really disappointing! They missed out on our business and we won't be returning. Also, their gin cocktail was watered down.

This is a lovely little place right on the Delaware River. The food is good, but not great. We were hungry and it was getting late, so we decided to enjoy the view and assumed the food wouldn't be too bad, we were right on both counts.

2 Stars for a great view! Guess that is what you are paying for here as it is certainly not the food. $14 "flounder" sandwich was a small grilled rye bread sandwich with a thin as cardboard (& texture of) filet of fish. Wife's pear salad was $12 I believe, but the 3 additional little shrimp were $8 more.

They have unique dishes, beautiful restaurant and bar, and outdoor seating on the deck along the river. This is a locals place and that's what you think going during the winter. A lot of late night friends frequent this place. Sort of like the local Cheers.

If I could give 3.5 I would. It was close to a 4 but not there. Food was good, not great. Had the steak sandwich and my girlfriend had the crab cake. The crab cake was much better.

Don't plan on going here if you have small children. Apparently they have had issues before with high chairs and they wouldn't allow our stroller on the deck although there was plenty of room. Really disappointing! They missed out on our business and we won't be returning. Also, their gin cocktail was watered down.

Beautiful view of the Delaware River from the outdoor deck. Pumpkin soup was fantastic. Caesar salad with chicken great as well. This was just the place we were looking for. We'll be back.

I've been to Martine's before and it has been great, but was very disappointed with my lunch last month. Most of us got salads and they were all priced over ten dollars and we were all hungry when we left. Not a lot to them and surely not worth the money. Beautiful place and nice people, but expensive for what you get.

2 Stars for a great view! Guess that is what you are paying for here as it is certainly not the food. $14 "flounder" sandwich was a small grilled rye bread sandwich with a thin as cardboard (& texture of) filet of fish. Wife's pear salad was $12 I believe, but the 3 additional little shrimp were $8 more.

Really a lovely place. We were there in the winter and it was VERY cold (not inside), but I can see how pretty it would be in Summer/Spring/Fall.

Martine's has an amazing river view...that alone is worth a stop. The food was tasty, and I didn't have a problem getting some veggie stuff. Drinks were good, and of course Yuengling Lager on tap. Good friends, good food, and a great time!
